An original “Creative Ad Mad Man.” Larry Aarons is a true native New Yorker growing up in a very tough neighborhood “very close to Fort Apache in the South Bronx.” Where he learned to survive because of his art.
“I began my life as an artist. Although it took some diversions when my kindergarten teacher took away my crayons. I guess I did more with those crayons than what the teacher wanted but my true artistic nature always called to me.
Back in the 60s as I floated through the “Purple Haze” of studying at The School of Visual Arts in NYC I trained under some great painters Harvey Dinerstein, Milton Glaser among many others. I graduated from SVA in 1965. But my art plans were shelved when I detoured into the world of creative advertising becoming a successful creative director and ad agency owner.
Although I continued to draw and study over the years when possible I didn’t think I would fulfill my dream and passion of becoming a full time artist. But it happened I returned to my artistic roots in 2012.
I picked up what I started over 50 years ago. There is life after advertising.
My art is contemporary portrait realism with a very human approach. I focused my art efforts in all medium but no crayons yet hahahahha.
In addition I’ve also developed a charcoal painting portrait style.
My Portrait Realism ART – The Myths of Man Who are we? Who came before us to make us who we are today?
“Everything that came before us is part of us and we cannot escape it.” From man’s earliest art beginnings we’ve all been touched by their presence and the spirit of that human endeavor. The Myths of Man – My art is classical while elegantly fusing modern themes.
I approach each portrait as a passage of time that the viewer embraces. Through research and location searches across the crescent and cradle of civilization each elegant portrait uses the chiaroscuro method of lighting an depicting accurate shapes of light and form which adds warmth and life like detail.
My art gives the viewer the ability to feel who the person is and connect with them both on an emotional level and on a personal level. To look into their eyes and see whom they are.
My art brings to life the famous, historic and the emotion in the faces of The Myths of Man.
