Past, Present & Future Exhibition
December 18, 2021 –10am to 5pm
Past, Present & Future art exhibition at the Emillions Art showroom at 837 5th Avenue South, Suite 202 in Naples, Fla. is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am until 5 pm, Dec. 14, 2021 – Jan. 18, 2022. The exhibition features original contemporary fine art oils by award-winning Los Angeles-based abstract painter Todd Williamson and impactful digital photo mosaic collages by artist Robin Austin, curated by Emillions Art founder and global art consultant Marlissa Gardner.
The exhibition looks at technology’s role in art through the ages, beginning with Williamson’s nuanced abstractions with subtle historic references from Rothko, Frankenthaler and Still with influences from modern masters like Gerhard Richter, Ross Bleckner, and Sean Scully. His work has been compared to works by Kandinsky and Paladino.
Williamson is the current winner of the prestigious Pollock Prize for Creativity, only the third artist in history to win this coveted prize from the Pollock Krasner Foundation in honor of Lee Krasner. His project Processional was one of 20 official exhibitions at the 2019 Venice Biennale, viewed by over 100,000 visitors, and named one of the Top 10 exhibitions at the international event.
His latest work, a series of questions on society and the political climate, is available now at Emillions Art. He says the new abstract “portraits” are sparse, near-monochromatic compositions created by removing layers of oil and leaving distinct frameworks of 3″ parallel or grid-like lines. According to Todd, the parallel lines become a framework that holds the story told in the painting while allowing the viewer to observe the sometimes-chaotic mass of color from a place that is both calm and peaceful, adding that the lines reflect the war that wages within himself over control and chaos.
Robin Austin is an American artist who lives in Florida and invented digital photo-mosaic photography art. He is one of the most highly sought digital artists today. By artfully weaving images together, Austin creates intriguing, emotional and playful works of art expanding on the stories of some of the 20th century’s biggest contributors: David Bowie, Frank Sinatra, Mick Jagger, the Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Nelson Mandela, and many others have been immortalized anew.
Austin recently unveiled the first-ever Naples NFT (non-fungible token), the latest trend in cryptocurrency investment, a larger-than-life photo mosaic portrait of a young Frank Sinatra in a 1938 police mug shot. A 32-second movie featuring more than 3,000 individual exploding images of little photo squares Austin assembled to make light, shadow, and color in the portrait can also be viewed.
