Urban Landscape 19

Ricardo Jorge Reis

Where is this? A heaven or a hell? An ordinary city square in Lisbon becomes a bleak landscape that nonetheless depicts aspects of love, play and a sense of waiting. In The Chronicles of Narnia, the lamp post serves as a familiar beacon for rendezvous, for the hope of a meeting. According to Urbandictionary.com, a lamp post is a name for a third wheel of a party when a couple wants to be left alone.  Reis captures the desire and trepidation of meeting in one city scene.
