Conversation In The Park
Oil on canvas
Ruspoli takes inspiration for his composition from Renaissance artists Paolo Veronese and Sebastiano del Piombo by creating scenes representing groups of people gathering in different places as a way to comment on the lack of true relatability in contemporary society between individuals and among social and cultural groups. His inspiration for his use of color—the bright oranges, blues, greens, reds, Naples yellow, and pink as principal pigments—stem from his admiration of Italian Renaissance painters Giovanni Battista Cima da Conegliano and Giovanni Bellini.
