Mara Sfara

Mara Sfara is a representational painter and a contemporary sculptor, multi sensory kinetic artist and artistic jeweler. Her kinetic sculptures blend traditional artwork with new media creating her own unique fantasy worlds. Sfara’s whimsical Greek mythological bronze sculptures convey a range of moods, humor, and attitudes with which her audience can readily identify.

Her positive nature is reflected in her art, in her use of vivid colors, objects and quixotic, idyllic serene landscapes. Sfara’s works reveal stories of human relationships to the self, others and the universe. She studied English, Film Criticism and Fine Arts at the undergraduate level and obtained her Master’s in Art from New York University.

Sfara’s paintings and sculptures are regularly exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide at shows in England, New York, Massachusetts, Texas, California, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Argentina and Spain. She is in the permanent collections of the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut, Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, New York and the QCC(CUNY) Art Gallery/Museum, Bayside, NY.  In 2013, Sfara’s sculptures and paintings were featured at the opening of a new wing at the historic Westbrook Manor at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum, Great River, NY. Sfara lives on the East Coast.

Resilience: An exhibition of contemporary artist Mara Sfara’s Animal Love

Resilience is a solo artist exhibition of realism painter and contemporary sculptor Mara Sfara’s original fine art oil paintings and sparkling Lucite® sculptures. Thoughtfully curated by Emillions Art founder global art consultant Marlissa Gardner, the collection reflects the Farmington, CT artist’s powerful empathy for nature and the animal kingdom. Resilience displays more than two dozen oil paintings of animals, idyllic landscapes of mountains, glaciers and oceans (what Mara refers to as “heavenly scenes”) and crystal clear 12-inch Lucite® teddy bears. Ms. Sfara’s passionate personality, lifelong love of animals and wry sense of humor is reflected in her art — a platform she uses to teach people from an early age about the benefits of a healthy, symbiotic relationship with art, nature and animals. Ms. Sfara studied painting for more than 25 years with prominent American realism painter Burton Silverman, well-known for his 1970 artwork for Jethro Tull’s best-known and best-selling album, Aqualung. Her paintings and sculptures are regularly exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide. The exhibition will be at the Emillions Art Showroom in Naples, FL from November 18 until December 8 (Tuesday through Saturday).
