Jim Salvati

Realist oil painter, Jim Salvati, utilizes texture to add emotion and depth to his panels. His paintings usually depict a lone figure, but are not so much portraits as they are snapshots of emotion in a singular moment. Salvati revels in working with the internal friction of oil paint: “My paintings are extremely thick and layered. I can keep the colors moving until I like what they have done to the piece.” The results are abstract strokes finely calibrated to evoke realist impressions.
