Laura Figueroa is a Mexican artist currently based in Paris and Mexico City. Her childhood was spent both in the city and the countryside. Although she studied Law at Anáhuac University, art was where she found her true calling. Her sensibility and her experience as a rider, in addition to her love for horses led her to dedicate herself to equestrian sculpture. She has a diplomat in Art History from London Art College, but her sculpting technique is mostly self-taught.

Her early work consists of classical, bronze horse sculptures showing a horse’s different movements or “airs.” Her current work has taken a turn towards a contemporary style, and each piece is uniquely painted over bronze. Her sculptures have been shown in several states in Mexico and in cities around the world, such as London, Paris, Rome, Buenos Aires, Cannes, Brescia, Caen, and New York. She has shown her works in many solo and collective exhibitions for almost 25 years. In 2019 she was awarded first place in the sculpture category at the 4th Contemporary Art Biennale of Argentina.

“My lifelong boundless passion for horses evoked in me the desire to create pieces that would transcend me. Pieces that would express my admiration, gratitude and love for such beautiful animals. I believe God created horses to bring us a little closer to Heaven.”
